New Paid Lunch Equity Tool for 2012-13

The Paid Meal Equity provision of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 requires schools to annually assess their prices with the end goal of all paid lunch prices at least equaling the free reimbursement rate minus the paid reimbursement rate. In March 2012, USDA issued policy memo SP 22-2012-s: Paid Lunch Equity: School Year 2012-2013 Calculations and Tool.The Paid Lunch Equity Tool for 2012-13, an Excel-based tool with user instructions, helps SFAs determine the current average price for paid lunches and the new average paid lunch price requirement. It was updated in March 2012 based on the current consumer price index.
