Introductory Training for New CACFP Contractors

Child Care Centers (Independents & Sponsors), Adult Day Care Center and Day Care Home Sponsors who wish to participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Programs (CACFP) must attend “Introduction to the CACFP” training before a CACFP program application is approved.

 

FND Training provides the required training for three separate CACFP audiences. The training outlines key responsibilities including eligibility, USDA CACFP meal pattern requirements, record keeping, financial management, training, and procurement.

 

New CACFP contractors must complete the following steps to receive a training certificate:

Pre-register for “Introduction to CACFP for NEW Contractors” (choose the program type you desire):

  • Child Care Centers (Independents & Sponsors) (code CAC1-^CCC1)
  • Adult Day Care (Independents & Sponsors) (code CAC2-^ADC1)
  • Day Care Home Sponsors (code DCH-^DCH1)

The course includes a self-paced activity and group teleconference. Select a scheduled teleconference from the F&N Learning Center.

  1. Click on Class Search.
  2. Select category called CACFP Child & Adult Day Care Centers … or … CACFP Day Care Home Sponsors.
  3. Look for next available teleconference date (listed as Self-Study Program Part 2) for the specific course code and program you desire.

Download, complete, and fax a F&N Learning Center Access Form to 1-888-237-5030 for processing.

Complete the entire Request Form to avoid registration delay!

WAIT for registration confirmation before completing steps 4-8.

You will receive an email confirmation when you are enrolled in the course with instructions on how to access materials for completing Steps 3–7. Several documents will have assigned deadlines.

Study the Program Workbook.

PART 1 SELF-STUDY - Begin your study promptly; several documents will have assigned deadlines.

Read and sign the Acknowledgement Statement.

Complete the Learning Assessment and transfer your answers to the Learning Assessment - Answer Sheet.

Participate in your scheduled teleconference.

PART 2 TELECONFERENCE - Have your training materials available for the teleconference!

AFTER the teleconference, send the following to TDA Food & Nutrition Training Unit by the assigned deadline:

  • Signed Acknowledgement Statement/Learning Assessment Answer Sheet
  • Course Evaluation

PART 3 SUBMIT DOCUMENTATION - Your training certificate will be sent to you after you complete the teleconference and your paperwork is received and validated.
